What is Gitsey?
Gitsey is two things in one: a point-of-sale system for your shop, and a free online storefront plus local search where nearby shoppers can find what you carry. You run your register day to day, and the items you mark "online" automatically appear on gitsey.com for people in your town to discover.
How much does it cost?
It is $59 a month, flat. The register, your storefront, AI photo listing, insights, and card payments are all included. There is no setup fee and no contract, you can cancel anytime from the app, and it starts with a free 30-day trial.
What do I need to run it?
An Android tablet or phone running Android 11 or newer. A roughly $150 tablet from a big-box store works great, and iPhone and iPad support is coming. To take cards through Gitsey you will do a quick one-time setup; otherwise you can keep using your own card reader.
Is there a contract or a setup fee?
No. It is month to month with no setup fee. You can cancel anytime right from the app, and you are not charged during the 30-day free trial.
How do my customers pay?
However you already take payment: cash, your own card terminal, or card payments through Gitsey, where a customer taps their card or phone on your device or scans a QR code to pay. You choose what to turn on.
Do I need to buy a card reader?
No. If you have an NFC-capable Android device, customers can tap a card or phone right on it with no separate reader. There is also a scan-a-code option that works on any phone, and if you already own a card terminal you can simply keep using it.
I already have my inventory somewhere else. Do I have to re-type it all?
No. The fastest way is to snap a photo and let the AI write the listing, or scan a barcode and it fills itself in, so you can list items as you sell them. Bulk import for shops moving from another system is on the roadmap.
Is my data mine?
Yes. Your inventory and sales are yours. Gitsey never stores your customers' card numbers; card data goes straight to Stripe, the same processor behind Shopify and Lyft. Our privacy policy spells out the details.
How do returns and refunds work?
Returns and voids are built into the register, so you can reverse a sale and your numbers and tax report stay correct.
Can I use it in Spanish?
Yes. The whole app and your storefront work in English or Spanish.
What is the free storefront?
When you mark an item "online," it gets a clean product page on your own gitsey.com storefront and shows up in local search. Shoppers nearby can search for it, see that it is in stock, and come buy it.
Can shoppers buy online?
Yes. Once you have turned on card payments, shoppers pay online and pick up in store, and if you enable delivery, a local Drivesey driver can bring the order to their door the same day. If you have not enabled online payments, your storefront still shows your live inventory and invites shoppers to visit or call.
Can a shopper hold an item without paying?
Yes. From your storefront a shopper can ask to reserve an item for pickup, a free 24-hour hold with no payment. The request comes straight to your register, and nothing is set aside until you approve it, so no one can quietly tie up stock you could be selling. Once you accept, the item shows as held on your register and inventory until they come in, and the hold releases on its own after 24 hours if they do not.
Does Gitsey do layaway?
Yes. Gitsey tracks layaways right in the register. You set up the item, the agreed total, and any deposit, and Gitsey keeps the running balance as the customer pays it off in your shop. The item is held out of your available stock until it is paid off and picked up. Gitsey does not handle the money, so you collect each payment however you like and record it. There are no extra fees and nothing comes between you and your customer.
